On August 3rd 2003, CVIC Software Engineering Co., Ltd. completed a formal assessment and met all CMM L3 requirements. As the first software enterprise to succeed in showing its project management and CMM L3 capability in China, CVIC SE has thus demonstrated its leading position in software engineering management in China's market.

It was early in the year 2002 that CVIC SE began to work with QAI India and implemented CMM Level 3 processes in its Finance Division. In August of this year, the assessment team, led by Mr. Partha, SEI-authorized Lead assessor, conducted a examination in detail about the implementation of all of the applicable Level 2 and 3 KPAs. During the 8-day on-site assessment, the assessment team determined that CVIC SE has achieved CMM Level 3 capability by satisfying all applicable KPAs at CMM Level 2 and Level 3.

CMM is the application of process management concepts to software, covering such practices as planning, designing, development, testing and maintenance. Software organizations are capable of enhancing organizational capability, meeting goals of reducing costs, improving product function and product quality by following these practices. CMM describes five organizational maturity levels known as initial, repeatable, defined, managed and optimizing. As the maturity level of an organization increases, the software development work is better planned, with higher quality, with a shorter cycle time, and a lower cost.

By implementing CMM, CVIC SE has demonstrated significant maturity and capability in software development process management and effective control over product quality. In the first half of this year, CVIC SE achieved a satisfactory export turnover, a rise of 330 percentage than the same period, 2002.
