On December 24th, 2003, the Eighth "CVIC Software Fund" Awarding Ceremony was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Xu Jiafu, one of the earliest software doctoral supervisors in China, Dong Yunmei, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chen Huowang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jing Xinhai, president and CEO of CVIC SE, Cheng Jianping, vice general manager of CVIC SE, attended the ceremony.

Created in 1995 under sponsorship of CVIC SE, CVIC Software Fund was the first fund for computer software development ever introduced in China. The fund is for two aspects, one is for CVIC Software Talents Award, which aims to encourage outstanding software talents, the other is for CVIC Software Series, which is to finance the software publication. CVIC Software Talents Award is the only software-oriented award recognized by Ministry of Science and Technology of China at present.

Through a strict evaluation process, Dr. Wang Wenping from Hongkong University, Dr. Wu Chengyong from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Jia yan from National University of Defense Technology, Dr Xu baowen from SouthEast University, were awarded as the CVIC Software Talents by the Fund's Appraisal Committee. "Enterprise Application Integration, Technology Architecture and Software Platform", written by Wu Quanyuan, professor of National University of Defense Technology, and Liu Jiangning, vice general manager of CVIC SE Middleware Co., Ltd. was listed on the publishing plan of CVIC Software Series.

Since the establishment of the Fund eight years ago, twenty-seven young talents in the field of software development have been rewarded, and most of them are doctoral supervisors, experts of the national "863 Program" and "Cheung Kong Scholars Program" scholars. The Fund has made great contributions to Chinese software industry development.
