A press conference on Shandong Middleware Industry Base(SMIB) products was held at CVIC SE on May 14th, 2004. This conference was presided over by Shandong Provincial Information Industry Department. It is the first large-scale marketing activity since SMIB was established in 2002, and it also indicates the beginning of China-born middleware products' entering the domestic IT market due to the governmental key support.
Shandong Middleware Industry Base, based on CVIC SE, was jointly approved and set up by Shandong Provincial Planning Commission and Shandong Provincial Information Industry Department in 2002. It is the first large-scale middleware base in China, and has undertaken a great number of middleware R&D projects supported by China Development and Reform Commission, China Ministry of Science and Technology, China Ministry of Information Industry etc.
SMIB has strategic cooperation relationships with many research institutes, such as National Defense University of Science and Technology, Beijing University, Shandong University, Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, People's University of China. It has developed a series of copyrighted middleware products including enterprise application server(InforWeb), enterprise application integration middleware (InforEAI), message middleware (InforBus/Q,) workflow middleware (InforFlow), reporting tools (InforReport), and distributed object-oriented middleware (InforBus). All these products have been widely used in China's critical fields, such as finance, transportation, e-government, e-business.
At the conference, the software experts from SMIB introduced the latest techniques and products. CVIC SE signed a series of sales contracts of middleware products with Beijing IT application Institute, Shandong Provincial Transportation Department, Shandong High-tech Investment Corporation etc. CVIC SE also signed application cooperation agreements with 13 software development companies mostly from Shandong Province. With all these efforts, it will greatly promote the technology innovation and application of middleware products, and make SMIB grow rapidly and steadily.
