On April.29, Dr. David M.Weiss and Mr.Hamilton Slye, famous software experts from Avaya Labs, visited CVIC SE on invitation and made an academic exchange as well. In addition to CVIC SE’s engineers, members from Shandong Computer Federation and YOCSEF (Young Computer Scientists & Engineers Forum) took part in the exchange.

CVIC SE has been paying attention to pursuing international advanced software development and management concepts, such as inviting famous experts in computer and project management field, who are from IBM, Intel, IPMA, Hitachi, University of Regina and so on, to give lectures and make some academic exchanges.

Avaya Labs, which has 75 years history, used to be a part of Bell Las, and has taken out 1,600 United States patents. During this visit to CVIC SE, Dr. David M. Weiss, head of one of Avaya Lab’s divisions in charge of software science and technology research, gave a lecture titled Architecture of Product Lines especially for CVIC SE, explaining what product lines are, what product lines have and why architecture should be seen as structures by showing some successful cases of Lucent, Nokia and Philips. After that, Mr. Hamilton Slye made a lecture about how to improve software development efficiency. Meantime, the two experts also talked about some hot topics with CVIC SE’s engineers.

With broad international communication and cooperation over the last 16 years, CVIC SE has established the first Trans-Regional Coordinated Development Platform in China, and set up the first IBM Authorized Software Testing Center, based on its unique inner RUP, to realize whole process monitoring and management of software development. On the 19th IPMA Conference held in India, CVIC SE won the prize of IPMA International Project Management Award and became the first Chinese enterprise winning this special honor until now.
